Knowledge Café

Knowledge Café is a great way for people to share information, develop ideas and reach conclusions. It serves as a lively alternative to presentations and written reports. Sitting in groups of 5, sometimes with an expert on a particular topic, sometimes without, people interrogate an issue and makes notes of points of interest on the tablecloth.

At the end of each round of discussion people move to different tables with one person remaining to explain to new arrivals what has been discussed. In this way each round of discussion builds on the on the one before. In the final session each table reviews what has been said and, helped by the points on the tablecloth, distill conclusions onto sheets of paper that can be reviewed by the whole group and distributed after the meeting.
